Dr. Jose M. Moris is an Assistant Professor at Texas A&M International University, where he brings a passion for exercise physiology and brain health research to the classroom and laboratory. He earned his Ph.D. in Exercise and Nutrition Sciences from Baylor University, where he was recognized with multiple teaching and research awards, including the Summer 2023 Teaching Fellowship and the Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Award in STEM.
Dr. Moris’s research focuses on the therapeutic potential of exercise to improve cerebral blood flow and reduce neuroinflammation, key factors in the prevention of dementia and neurodegenerative diseases. He is particularly interested in the use of moderate aerobic exercise under hypercapnic conditions to enhance brain health and cognitive function. His work has led to numerous peer-reviewed publications and external funding awards.
In addition to his research, Dr. Moris is dedicated to student mentorship, having guided over a dozen undergraduate students through successful research projects resulting in co-authored publications and conference presentations. He is a member of ISTAART and the American College of Sports Medicine, and he serves on multiple committees within TAMIU’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
